The 2005 Xterra comes with a nice covered roof bin. This would be a great place to store recovery gear, but Nissan left out one part, the ability to lock it. Folks over on www.xterraownersclub.com found out that the factory latch is made by Southco (wasn't hard to find that out as it's stamped on the latch bar). After poking around a couple different model replacement handles were found that should work. I ended up buying S92-41-511 from Austin Hardware & Supply Co. The installation requires a 17mm socket/wrench and a 7mm socket/wrench and about 10 minutes worth of work.
